Hey friends! Remember when I mentioned an exciting opportunity that we were praying about? Well, a LOT has happened with that since then. I wanted to update you on the third Doulos group before writing more about the end of the summer, but it turned out to be a harder trip to share about so now here we are at the end of the summer.
We accepted the invitation to go along with some of the summer staff out to Kotzebue, AK in partnership with a local church in Anchorage and the missionaries in the village itself. Details were few, but we were encouraged by the excitement of the leaders involved, and by the chance to bring camp out to these children. Since then, people have begun to send supplies and pray for the trip. Unfortunately, as exciting as this opportunity was things new COVID safety measures were introduced that we were unaware of before. In the last few days before we were scheduled to depart, the leadership had to make the difficult decision not to go. Why things had to happen this way, we don’t know, but we know that through it all God is still sovereign.
The sovereignty of God is something that I have been thinking a lot about the last few weeks. I’m sure you have noticed the lack of updates in recent days. As the summer comes to a close up here, I have seen so many encouraging things, just this last week brought a lot of unexpected changes to the camp and it has been hard to work through the implications of all of it. Knowing that God is in control and knows the beginning, middle, and end of every story is a blessing and comfort in uncertain times.
So where does that leave us? Well, we will be heading home tomorrow!! Aug. 9th we fly out of Anchorage and will be back in PA by Tuesday. We are excited to catch up with some of you in person and look forward to the life in store for us there!
