Who We Are

Our Story.

If you are ever wondering who is writing an update…it’s likely me (Mikaela)! Serving with more of the “behind the scenes” aspects of ministry while I raise our children, I am thrilled to be able to write updates and share them with you! I have been involved with Victory Bible Camp since 2016 when I served for a summer after finishing high school. I have been privileged to see firsthand many ways that the Lord has worked at Victory Bible Camp in my life, the lives of campers, and the lives of other staff.

I know that my life has been changed for the better because of the people God brought into my life through VBC. I am praying that each summer we can serve the youth groups that come to camp through the Doulos program like Christ served the disciples. Victory Bible Camp has had a large influence in teaching me what it means to be a mentor and a leader through example. Also to persevere even when everything seems stacked against me, because we serve a God who is far bigger and better than any plans we may have.

Some seasons camp life will be crazy, and I (we) may be quiet on here, but during those times, please continue to pray for the youth, for the leaders, and for God to be at work as the spiritual battle rages on day by day.

Benjamin first experienced VBC in 2019 when the Lord placed on his heart to go to VBC for the summer and serve. This was a big challenge for him knowing that he would not be earning money for two whole months!! By the end of the summer, he felt the Lord prompting him to go up for the entire winter and be a help in whatever way he could, using the skills God has given him.

To read more check out his first blog post, but to make a long story short, he ran his own home remodeling and repair business, Naugle Construction and Home Repair. January 2021 found us living happily together and his business going pretty well – quite content where we are. That’s when we got a text from a good friend at camp who led Doulos. He asked if we would be willing to work with him during the summer in Doulos. After much prayer and seeking some wise counsel we decided to join the work at VBC for yet another summer. Now here we are in 2026, through God’s grace, serving at Victory Bible Camp in fulltime ministry.

Where We Serve

Victory Bible Camp, Alaska.

“In 1941, several Alaskan missionaries met together and discussed the benefit of gathering yearly for a time of spiritual refreshment. One of these missionaries, John Gillespie along with his wife Nadine, had developed a desire for beginning a Christian camp with the purpose of “seeing people come to Christ and others dedicating their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.” An extensive prayer list pinpointed the requirements for a camp and conference site, including such priorities as a lake surrounded by high ground, good water supply, and accessibility to a main road. Each item was found in a site on Index Lake.

Youth camps have also expanded and now include four programs that run simultaneously in the summer: Alpine, Adventure, Ranch and the high school S.A.L.T. discipleship program. Summertime at Victory also sees many work teams from all over the US coming to assist with projects and operations at camp. The Doulos program, begun in 2013, opened up opportunities for youth groups to come and serve and experience Alaska as well. Outpost, a 9-month gap year program, along with internships throughout the year provide educational spiritual development.”
