Limited Cell Service

The Permafrost Posse is out in the wilderness now. Unfortunately, that means I don’t have much to update everyone on. They stayed a few hours in Watson Lake last night and were eager to get back on the road.

I have heard whispers of something not quite right with the Turbo yesterday, but all seemed better this morning. They are back on the road, so either it was a non-issue, or they were able to get it fixed. Praise the Lord again for the way he provides! I believe someone stopped to check on them as they were looking under the hood along the road, and knew a local guy who could look at it first thing this morning. As we trust the Lord and see his provision, we are reminded in tangible ways how he is faithful to provide.

Afternoon update:

It appears the truck continues to throw a fuel pressure code, and they need to pull over to clear it every time. I believe they have a general idea of what is causing it, but because they are driving through the mountains, it is happening a lot more frequently right now. Please be praying that the issue resolves in a way that continues to give glory to God and his care over them!

Evening Update:

I was able to get Benjamin on the phone for a few minutes this evening; it was great to hear from them! Admittedly, I didn’t get much of a progress report because our boys were monopolizing the call and were thrilled to hear Benjamin’s voice. I was able to gather, however, that they are a ways past Whitehorse, YT, and there have been no further issues with the truck! The code they were having issues with is the same one that allowed them to find the leaking tire early on in the trip, so they did have a new fuel filter and installed it. Initially, it seemed to have solved the problem, but it cropped up again. Benjamin was able to check with the mechanic who went over the truck for him before they left. His suggestion was to replace the fuel pressure relief valve, and they actually had one in stock at the NAPA in Whitehorse, praise the Lord. As they drove through Whitehorse, they stopped to pick up the part, but have not needed to make the replacement because the truck has been running smoothly now.

As they continue their journey, they are closing in on the final stretch. While Josh may return with more gray hairs than he started with, he and the others will also have more stories of how God shows up and provides. For those of you who don’t have a map handy, Whitehorse is 616 miles from camp and 297 miles from the Canada-Alaska border. This means that the majority of the driving they have left is back in the US! (Though, I will say, that last stretch of Canadian road is rough – literally and mentally)

“Last night we stopped in Watson Lake, Yukon. The truck wasn’t running right so we were pulled over on a service road with the hood up. A local stopped to ask if we needed help and gave us contact info for Caleb, the truck repair guy in town.

We set up a 7am appt and  Benjamin met him at his shop. They talked about the truck and determined that the module reset itself and there wasn’t any repair needed.

They talked about life and  Benjamin shared the gospel with him and prayed for him. Pray for his heart to be softened and for his salvation.

Traveling is going good today with minor hiccups of a cold weather fuel filter replacement then getting stuck in the snowy parking lot that we pulled into to change the filter.

Benjamin’s skillful driving and heavy right foot got the truck out of a sticky situation and back on the road.”
